Prof. SELÇUK NAS

He graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Maritime Faculty, Deck Department in 1991. He worked as an officer and a chief officer at different types of merchant vessels between 1991 – 1999.

He received his MSC degree in Maritime Business and Management in 1999. During his master studies, he focused on “The Role and Importance of the Simulator Based Training in the Maritime Education and Training”. He received his PhD degree in 2006. During his doctorate studies he focused on “decision making”, “risk management in maritime industry” and also “Individual Decision Making of Ship Masters in the Ship Operations”. He assigned as an Assistant Prof. in 2006. After PhD, He gives consultancy support to the harbor pilotage organizations on risk assessment concerning ship maneuverings in harbor. He has been teaching Coastal Navigation, Bridge Team Management, Risk Assessment, Collision Avoidance Rules, Tanker Operations, Liquid Cargo Handling Simulator Training since 1995 as a full time lecturer in Dokuz Eylül University, Maritime Faculty. Also he has been teaching Research Techniques in “The Graduate School of Social Science” and “The Graduate School of Science and Engineering” of Dokuz Eylul University. He served as a deputy director of the School of Maritime Business and Management from 2001 till 2009. He served as a vice dean of Dokuz Eylul University Maritime Faculty from 2010 - 2016. He has been a board member of Chamber of Marine Engineer since 2012. Now he is working as a full-time professor in Dokuz Eylul University Maritime Faculty.
