Professor Saadet Kasman earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from Vanderbilt University and is currently a Professor of Economics in the Faculty of Business at Dokuz Eylül University, Turkey. She has also held academic appointments at the Izmir University of Economics (part-time) and the University of California, Santa Cruz (as a research fellow). Throughout her career, she has taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including financial economics, macroeconomics, money and banking, and monetary economics. She is a recipient of the Rendigs Fels Award for Excellence in Student Teaching from Vanderbilt University. Her research examines the efficiency, competition, risk, and stability of financial institutions, with a particular emphasis on banking. Professor Kasman has also contributed to the literature on volatility and financial forecasting. Her recent work extends to energy and welfare economics, and she has published work on energy, happiness, obesity, and income. Professor Kasman frequently collaborates with scholars on projects integrating theoretical frameworks and advanced econometric techniques to address country-specific and cross-country issues. Her work has appeared in leading journals, including Empirical Economics, Economic Modelling, Applied Economics, Emerging Markets Review, Economic Systems, Empirica, Physica A, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, Emerging Markets Trade and Finance, Atmospheric Pollution Research, Crime and Delinquency, and the International Journal of the Economics of Business. Her publications are widely cited, reflecting the broad impact of her research in economics and related fields.
