After graduating from Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine in 1998, he worked at the Ministry of Health. In 2000, he began his residency training as a Medical Specialty Student in the Department of Forensic Medicine at Dokuz Eylül University, and became a Forensic Medicine Specialist in 2004. In December 2005, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor. In 2006, he served for one year as a Medical Lieutenant (Forensic Medicine Specialist) at the Gülhane Military Medical Academy. He currently holds the position of Professor in the Department of Forensic Medicine at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine, and continues his academic duties as an instructor at the Faculties of Medicine, Law, and Dentistry of Dokuz Eylül University.

He also contributes to training activities as a secondary appointed physician at the İzmir Group Directorate of the Council of Forensic Medicine, Morgue Department.

He has participated in numerous national and international congresses as an instructor and invited speaker, and has presented more than 30 international conference papers.

He has contributed to over 30 articles indexed in SCI, SCI-Expanded, and Social Indexes, and has authored many national publications. His h-index is 16 (Scopus), with contributions to more than 140 publications in total.

He has received poster and oral presentation awards, including best conference paper awards, and has authored chapters in national and international books.           

His main fields of interest include human rights, postmortem forensic toxicology, bodily injury assessment, forensic imaging, and medical education.

In addition to serving as a member of the Faculty Administrative Board, he is also a member of the ERASMUS Committee and currently holds the position of Head of the Training Unit within the Hospital Quality Unit.

He has participated in numerous courses and seminars as both a participant and an instructor in the fields of crime scene investigation, the Istanbul Protocol, forensic toxicology, disability expertise, medical education (forensic medicine), and clinical forensic medicine.
He has worked within the scope of a European Union–funded project titled Istanbul Protocol Training Program: Enhancing the Knowledge Level of Non-Forensic Physicians, Judges, and Prosecutors.
