Biography
Mustafa Softa is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geology at Dokuz Eylül University. He received advanced doctoral training in luminescence dating techniques at the Kansas State University, where he developed strong expertise in Quaternary geochronology. His Ph.D. research focused on the interactions between marine terrace development, sea-level fluctuations, and differential tectonic movements within the subduction zone of the Eastern Pontides. Building on this background, Dr. Softa conducts trench-based and surface paleoseismology studies on active faults across Western, Central, and Eastern Anatolia, contributing to multidisciplinary projects aimed at understanding active tectonics and seismic hazard assessment.
