Biography

In 2002, he graduated from Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Architecture. He completed his master's thesis titled "Devingenlik in Architecture; Container as a Devingen Architectural Product" in 2005 and his doctoral thesis titled "A Model Proposal on User Participation in Architectural Design Process" in 2013 at DEU Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences. During his studies, he was selected for the summer school organized by UMAR (Union of Mediterranean Architects) in Athens in 2000 and the summer school organized by IFHP (International Federation for Housing and Planning) and University of Roma "La Sapienza" in Rome-Sabaudia in 2003. In 2002, he was appointed as Research Assistant, in 2013 as Assistant Professor, in 2017 as Associate Professor and in 2023 as Professor. He is currently working as a faculty member at Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty and Department of Architecture. Since 2004, he has received more than 40 awards, including 14 first prizes and equivalent prizes in architectural project competitions with Orhan Ersan and Deniz Dokgöz. As a result of the competition projects, the design activities he carried out within the university, the professional organization activities he voluntarily contributed to and the "İzmirDENİZ" coastal design studies he participated in as a designer; structures such as İzmir Architecture Center, Kadirli Municipality Service Building and Cultural Center, DEU East Gate, Lüleburgaz Stars Women's Academy, Konak Canopies, Karantina Tram Stop Top Covers and Mezitli Municipality Service Building were built. Among these buildings, Izmir Architecture Center was awarded the 11th TSMD Architecture Awards Building Branch Award in 2015 and the International Architecture Award given by "The European Centre for Architecture, Art Design and Urban Studies" on an international scale; Lüleburgaz Stars Women's Academy building was awarded the Success Award within the scope of "Antalya Kepez Municipality 4th Architect Turgut Cansever National Architecture Awards" and the Good Practice Award within the scope of Raci "Bademli Good Practices Awards" in 2017. As one of the 14 architects selected within the scope of the Young Architects Selection & Exhibition (GEMSS 2019) organized in 2019, he took part in exhibitions and panel events planned on a national and international scale.  He served as a jury member in national architectural project competitions and national/international student idea project competitions, especially as a member of the Selection Committee in the XIVth and XVIth National Architecture Exhibition and Awards Program. He participated as an invited speaker in various national symposiums, workshops and panels organized on competitions, and prepared papers and articles on competitions and their productions. In addition, with the KA-Katılım Atölyeleri group, of which he is one of the founders, he organized workshops on urban, spatial and user relations, design studies, social responsibility projects including educational activities and implementation activities for space improvements.
