Didem Özer-Çaylan is an Associate Professor at Dokuz Eylul University Maritime Faculty, Turkey. Her PhD thesis was on the maritime policy-making process and strategic analysis for the Turkish Maritime Industry. Her research area includes strategic management and human resources management fields for the Maritime and Logistics industries. She has researched job analysis for ports, personnel selection criteria for logistics companies, skills and competencies of supply chain and logistics managers, the recruitment process of maritime students after long-term internship programs, generational differences, and strategic leadership with her colleagues and postgraduate students. She has articles, book chapters, and conference papers in her research area. She assumed the editorship of the book 'Maritime Strategies for Turkey’. She received two awards including the Best Reviewer award from JEMS (Journal of ETA Maritime Science) in 2018 and the Young Scientist award from IAME (International Association of Maritime Economists) in 2004. She also carries out advisory duties about the sub-subjects of strategic management and HRM for students' MSc and PhD theses.
