Özet:
The impact of participation in design and urban planning processes is a noticeable subject especially at the present time.
Participation is a phenomenon which is closely related with culture conception. When the word ‘culture’ is searched in many
studies, it can be seen that the concept was handled in the context of traditions, cultural heritage, physical existence etc.
In this study,the culture notion will be handled not only in the context of this usual meanings, but also it will be discussed
related with the participation title. The participation of city-dwellers in design and urban planning processes, who are from
different cultures is the main research subject of this study.
In this manner the study aim to find out the effect of culture differences in the context of participation culture to the planning and
design processes. For this purpose France and Turkey are chosen as samplings. The findings of the study is important to show
the situation of our participation manner comparatively with another country.
