Özet

20 cases with anterior knee pain complaint, diagnosed as patellofemoral malalignment syndrome were included in the study. Patients were randomized in two groups. Group I had received patellofemoral exercise programme including EMG-Biofeedback training of vastus medialis obliqus while group II had the same exercise programme without biofeedback. Patients were evaluated before and after the treatment with the following parameters: pain (visual analog scale), modified Lysholm knee scale, patellofemoral score, vastus medialis obliqus /vastus lateralis and patellofemoral computed tomography at 20° and 45° flexion with and without quadriceps muscle contraction. After treatment in both groups pain, modified Lysholm knee scale and patellofemoral scores were improved significantly. But when two groups were compared, the improvement of pain during walking and squatting and patellofemoral score were statistically better in the first group. The improvement of congruence angle was statistically significant only in group I. The results of this study indicate that EMG-Biofeedback is an effective method in improving patellofemoral malalignment syndrome's radiologic and clinical findings.
