Özet

The maritime industry is at a crucial juncture in the fight against climate change. With the International Maritime Organization (IMO) unveiling its ambitious strategy for achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050, the sector faces both significant challenges and transformative opportunities. This keynote will explore the evolving regulatory landscape, particularly the IMO Net-Zero Framework approved at MEPC 83, and its implications for ship owners, designers, ports, and policymakers. We will examine key topics such as carbon pricing mechanisms, fuel intensity targets, and the urgent need to scale up alternative marine fuels like green methanol, ammonia, and hydrogen. Navigating these changes will require rapid technological adaptation and a strong commitment to global collaboration. Additionally, we will highlight the essential roles of digital innovation, lifecycle-based vessel design, and green financing as vital drivers of this important transition. In conclusion, this keynote will provide a comprehensive roadmap for achieving our ambitious goals, emphasizing the importance of integrated solutions that align environmental responsibility with operational resilience. Our oceans are brimming with promise—but we must embark on this journey together with determination and purpose.
