Abstract

Spontaneous remission (SR) is very rarely observed in acute leukemias. We report one case of ALL and one case of AML evolving to SR. Both of our patients had serious documented hepatic infections at diagnosis. In serious infections the elevated levels of cytokines might show a negative proliferative effect on leukemic cells. Better understanding the pathophysiology of SR can help in developing new treatment strategies.
