Havacılık Profesyonellerinin Gözünden Emniyet: Bir Metafor Analizi

Özet

Bu araştırmanın amacı sivil havacılık sektöründe faaliyet gösteren personellerin “Emniyet” kavramına ilişkin algılarını metafor yöntemi ile belirlenmesidir. Çalışma Türk Sivil Havacılık Sektöründe görev yapan 192 profesyonelle yürütülmüştür. Süreçte yarı yapılandırılmış bir anket formu oluşturulmuştur. Formda katılımcılardan “Bana Göre Emniyet ... Gibidir. Çünkü ...” ifadesini tamamlamaları talep edilmiştir ve toplanmıştır. Sektör profesyonellerinin “Emniyet” kavramına ilişkin düşünceleri içerik analizi yöntemiyle çözümlenmiştir. Çalışmada “Emniyet” kavramına ilişkin olarak toplam 183 metaforun geliştirildiği görülmüştür. Bu metaforlardan 104 adeti farklı metaforlar olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Geliştirilen metaforlar sonucunda 9 ayrı kategori oluşturulmuştur. Bulgular, emniyet kavramının katılımcılar tarafından hem somut nesnelerle hem de soyut kavramlarla ilişkilendirildiğini göstermiştir. Öne çıkan metaforlar, emniyetin çok katmanlı, gelişime açık ve sektördeki operasyonel süreçler açısından kritik bir yapı olduğunu vurgulamaktadır. Bu araştırma sivil havacılık profesyonellerinin havacılık sektörünün en kritik unsuru olan “emniyet” kavramına yönelik sahip olduğu algılarının ortaya çıkarılması ve potansiyel olumsuzlukların giderilmesine yönelik katkı sağlaması bakımından önem arz etmektedir. Ayrıca alanyazında havacılık sektöründe emniyet kavramının metafor yöntemiyle incelenmesine dair çalışmaların sınırlı olması, çalışmanın özgünlüğünü ve bilimsel katkısını artırmaktadır. Bu araştırma gelecekte yapılacak çalışmalar için değerli bir veri kaynağı oluşturmakta ve sektörde emniyet kültürünün geliştirilmesine yönelik farkındalık yaratmaktadır.
The purpose of this research is to determine the perceptions of personnel working in the civil aviation sector regarding the concept of “Safety” using the metaphor method. The study was conducted with 192 professionals working in the Turkish Civil Aviation Sector. A semi-structured questionnaire was created for the process. Participants were asked to complete the statement “Safety is like... because...” and their responses were collected. The sector professionals' thoughts on the concept of ‘Safety’ were analyzed using content analysis. The study revealed a total of 183 metaphors related to the concept of “Safety.” Of these metaphors, 104 were identified as distinct metaphors. The developed metaphors resulted in the creation of 9 separate categories. The findings showed that the concept of safety was associated with both concrete objects and abstract concepts for participants. The prominent metaphors emphasize that safety is a multi-layered, open to development, and critical structure in terms of operational processes in the sector. This research is important in revealing the perceptions of civil aviation professionals regarding the concept of “safety,” which is the most critical element in the aviation sector, and contributing to the elimination of potential adverse outcomes. Furthermore, the limited number of studies in the literature examining the concept of safety in the aviation sector using metaphorical methods enhances the originality and scientific contribution of this study. This research provides a valuable data source for future studies and raises awareness regarding the development of a safety culture in the sector.
