This article aims to shed light on the transformation of political identities in a region, focusing on the roles of migration, urbanization, unionization, ethnic identities, neighborhood solidarity, and grassroot movements. While there were significant developments within the Turkish left during the pre-1980 period, Gültepe was one of the unique cases. Although, initially considered as a stronghold of the center-right Justice Party, the region later became a notable example of municipal socialism. Moreover, as the region became a refuge for various socialist groups, their grassroots organizations further solidified socialist hegemony in the area. When the TARİŞ resistance spread to Gültepe, the protests of workers escalated into an urban uprising. The resistance, which involved barricades and took control of the district, was suppressed by a military-backed operation that lasted 9.5 hours.
