Ocean Literacy, a crucial component of environmental education, encompasses understanding the Ocean’s influence on people and the impact of human activities on the Ocean. This chapter reports an investigation that is related to Ocean Literacy levels of pre-service science and social studies teachers, focusing on the variables of gender, Ocean experience, and participation in environmental activities. The study employs a survey to gather data from a representative sample of pre-service teachers from a faculty of education located in seaside city in Türkiye. According to the quantitative analysis, it is found that there were significant differences in two items with female participants demonstrating higher levels of awareness and understanding. However, there was no significant difference in terms of participation in environmental activities, participants’ sea experience showed a significant difference in their Ocean Literacy levels regarding the actual source of rainwater that falls on the land. The results underscore the importance of integrating comprehensive Ocean education into teacher training programs and highlight the need for targeted initiatives to bridge gaps in Ocean Literacy, ultimately fostering a more informed and environmentally conscious teaching workforce.
