This study investigates a case of pregnancy toxaemia resulting from inadequate nutritional management in goats. The samples were collected following observed mortality cases among pregnant goats in a herd consisting of 286 Aleppo goats and 175 Awassi sheep in the & Scedil;ahinbey district of Gaziantep province, Turkey. The study included anamnesis, clinical examination of the herd, anatomohistopathological examination of a goat carcase, and laboratory tests on sera from 32 goats and six sheep. Clinical findings, postmortem examination and laboratory results demonstrated that changes in the ration during pregnancy led to pregnancy toxaemia in the goats carrying multiple fetuses. The case report also provides significant insights into the development and outcomes of pregnancy toxaemia in the prepartum period in goats carrying multiple fetuses. Finally, this study underscores the critical importance of carefully planning and implementing a balanced and adequate nutritional management strategy to prevent pregnancy toxaemia, particularly in small ruminants carrying multiple fetuses.
