The modularity of shunt active power filters (APF) is considered to be the most advantageous feature that allows parallel operation of a number of modules. From the viewpoint of reliability, flexibility, and efficiency, modular fltering approach is quite appropriate for high power applications. This configuration allows various control schemes to be employed, namely power and frequency splitting and capacity limitation control. In this paper, these configurations and methods for parallel operation of APFs will be analyzed in PSCAD and results will be discussed.
