Abstract

The performance of AMCBR reactor was monitored at a HRT of 1.5 days and at a organic loading rate of 3.2 kgCOD/m3day. The removal efficiencies of antibiotics were 89%, 90%, 91% and 88% respectively, after 30 days of operation period. The COD removal efficiencies were 90%, 91%, 92% and 89%. The total methane production was 10.841 l/day, while the methane percentage of total gas were 56%, 60%, 70%, 61% for Amoxycillin, Oxytetracycline, Tylosin and Erythromycin antibiotics, respectively. The EC(50) values of the aforementioned antibiotics were 1.5, 2 and 1 mg/l respectively, with acute toxicity test carried out using Daphnia manga.
