The first step of design of underground excavations is to provide the stability of underground openings. Rock mass classification systems are one of the design method for providing the stability of underground openings. Rock mass classification systems are practically helpful for determining the support systems. The preperation and the production level at T.K.Í G.L.L Omerler Mechanized Underground Coal Mine have been going deeper thus the studies of mechanical, physical and rock mass properties of rock around the coal seam is more important for design of these kind of engineering structures. In this study, rock mass classification system was used for determining the standup time of underground openings at deeper sections of Omerler Mechanized Underground Coal Mine to help support design.
