Özet

Electrothrombosis is one of the methods of vascular occlusion that can be summarized as the formation of intravascular thrombosis by application of direct current to intravascularly placed electrodes. There are no studies utilizing electrothrombosis for the treatment of hemangiomas and vascular malformations, so we conducted a study consisting of an in vitro test, animal experiments and clinical applications. The formation of a thrombus was observed in the test tubes in which direct current was applied to the electrodes in the in vitro test. In the animal experiment group occlusion of femoral arteries in the rabbit model was achieved by electrothrombosis. Clinical applications were done in six patients with hemangiomas and six patients with vascular malformations. Success rates were 75% in hemangiomas and 58.3% in vascular malformations.
