Özet

Every year, hundreds of thousands of students across Turkey make their university choices by passing university admission exams. In addition to important issues such as specialization, university recognition, and the city where the university is located, other issues, such as the facilities of university campuses, ease of transportation, and the availability of dormitories nearby, are also important in university choices. In this study, university campuses are evaluated in terms of ease of access to nearby student dormitories and other important points of the city by public transportation. The location valuation index (LVI) based on public transportation network distance (PTND) is used as the evaluation criterion. The main difference of this study from other studies using LVI is the use of the ordered weighted average (OWA) distance in terms of distance. The proposed OWA-based PTND approach was applied to the data of Izmir, the 3rd largest metropolitan city in Turkey, and the university campuses in Izmir.
