Özet

P2 protein mainly found in peripheral nervous system and spinal cord is one of four basic proteins in human myelin. In this study, an indirect ELISA was used to assay P2 in 18 cerebrospinal fluid from MS patients (14 definite, 4 probable). Four types of curve were seen, very high positive (1 patient), high positive (6 patients), low positive (4 patients) and negative (7 patients), Among P2 protein detected patients, eight of them (72.7%) were in the exacerbation period during their examination (p = 0.0046). The results obtained from this study indicate that the P2 assay may be of diagnostic value and it can be used as a marker of MS activity.
