A variety of methods are used for postoperative analgesia in children. 30 ASA I children, aged 5-14, undergoing tonsillectomy were considered in this study. The first group received 0.5 mg/kg of preincisional % 0.25 bupivacain, while the second group did not receive bupivacain. Pain scores used for determining postoperative analgesia were significantly lower in the first group compared to the second group. No adverse effects related to bupivacain were encountered. As a conclusion, preincisional % 0.25 bupivacain infiltration is concluded to be an alternative method for postoperative analgesia without causing any complications.
