Özet

Aim: Bending of the support bar for minimal invasive repair of pectus excavatum (MIRPE) (Nuss procedure) is usually clone intraoperatively. In our institution support bar is bent preoperatively using a template that is dictated by antropometric measurements of individual patients. We herein present our pectus template guided support bar bending technique. Material and Method: Three patients with symetrical pectus excavatum deformities, aged 6,11,18 were operated. Bending of the support bar was accomplished preoperatively. A template was drawn according to the antropometric measurements, all recorded at the level of maximal pectus excavatum depression with the aid of pelvimeter. A template is drawn with the aid of a computer software using these measurements. Support bars were bent with the aid of a pair of bar benders called "deer hoof" to match the pectus template. The final bending of the support bar is done in the operating room under general anesthesia to ensure the snug fit of the support bar. Results: All three support bars fitted snugly enough to the thorax countours even before final intraoperative molding. Conclusion: Preoperative bending of the support bar for MIRPE with the aid of the pectus template dictated by antropometric measurements of individual patients facilitates bar bending. It enables molding of the support bar to its final shape accurately in a short time period.
