Today's home appliance trend is to release a new design in a very short time. It is also expected that the new design should be cheaper and higher quality standards. In this paper, a marketing research about refrigerators is presented on the basis of sound power levels. A high capacity refrigerator with compressor compartment upside is vibro-acoustically examined and improved. Sound power level of the refrigerator is measured and its main noise sources are localized by sound intensity mapping. A special sound insulation material is developed and also a new type of condenser fan is selected for the treatment of noise.
