In this work, in situ coating techniques of biocompatible metal (Ti6Al4V ELI alloy) implants with calcium hydroxyapatite, HA, (Ca10(PO 4)6(OH)2) were investigated. The bioceramic coating of HA on the surface of titanium alloy substrate was prepared in Synthetic/Simulated Body Fluids (SBF) with different immersion time and chemical composition at constant temperature 37°C and pH 7.4. The coating surface characterization of HA was performed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The effects of HA layer thickness and chemical composition on the mechanical properties of the resulting coatings was also determined. Adhesive strength of coatings was measured according to the standards ASTM F 1044-99.
