Özet

The psychologists, who have been trying to identify and measure the intelligence, advocate that emotional intelligence should also be emphasized besides intellectual intelligence which has always been regarded as a classic, among the success criteria. What has been aimed with this study in Dokuz Eylül University Primary Education Department at the second grade is to find whether there is a relation between their Music I and emotional intelligence or not. That is why, Bar-on Emotional Intelligence Scale has been tried on the the students and the correlation of the notes of the Music I class and their academic notes has been taken into consideration.The language equivalence-has been done by Mumcuoǧlu- of whose Turkish forum subdimensions Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficients are between 0,48 and 0,84. In this study, scale of Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient has been founded 0,95. At the end of this study, it has been found that, there was no relation between emotional intelligences and their musical success of teacher candidates of Primary Education. Besides, there was no meaningful difference according to their getting musical education before or ability to play an instrument. Meaningful difference has been found according to the sex varieties in favour of females and teacher candidates of Primary Education 's emotional intelligence in interpersonal subscale dimension.
