A total of 64 ♂ ♂ and 37 ♀ ♀ adult specimens from Turkish Thrace and 158 ♂ ♂ and 188 ♀ ♀ adult specimens from Anatolia were investigated comparatively as two separate populations groups to determine the subspecific status of the species in Turkey. No significant differences are discernible between the two population groups from the viewpoints of pholidosis, morphometrical measurements and rations and pattern and coloration characteristics. So the Turkish L. viridis populations belong to a single subspecies L. v. meridionalis.
