Özet

A 53-year-old male patient was operated due to squamous cell lung cancer. A right sleeve lobectomy was performed. Postoperatively on the 6th day, the patient was reoperated due to massive air leakage and haemoptysis, and the destroyed lung parenchyma along the stapler line was repaired. On postoperative 4th day, air leakage and empyema was observed. Sutures on the anastomosis line were found open in bronchoscopy. The patient underwent another operation. Pneumonectomy was performed and the bronchial stump was supported by omentum. On the 10th day; due to air leakage, bronchoscopy was repeated and a bronchopleural fistula was detected. Polyester coated conic self expandable stent (Novatech r, Silment SM Self-Expandable) was applied to the patient. Following the stent application, massive air leakage decreased and it disappeared on the 2nd day. The patient recovered uneventfully. He was discharged on the 9th day of the postoperative period. The literature review indicated this case as the first reported case in Turkey.
