Özet

Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing has become a major part of research and engineering projects in the last couple of years. Using these systems and related services together enable us to generate new solutions for our current problems and difficulties. One of them is the necessary supervision of elderly and housebound patients who cannot request or go to a medical service with conventional ways. In response to this, the authors have tried to design and partially realize an IoT gateway that can work in a system that is made up of medical sensors, mobile devices and cloud services. The purpose of this system is to get medical information from elderly, sick or injured persons that require constant supervision and enable the doctors, other medical personal or the relatives of aforementioned persons to monitor and make correct medical decisions in shortest possible time span. Our main goal and contribution with this paper is to design a gateway for the aforementioned system and conduct simulations and testing in order to understand system constraints and vulnerabilities if it were to be implemented in a large scale, with the maximum possible number of different medical sensors used.
