Introduction: Objective: The objective was to examine studies published in the Web of Science database
over the past ten years on the nursing management of delirium using a bibliometric analysis method.
Materials and Method: A bibliometric analysis of the articles included in the study was conducted on 28
September 2024. The Web of Science Core Collection was searched using the keywords “delirium nursing
management” and “delirium nursing care.” A total of 911 research articles were subjected to evaluation.
The bibliometric analysis of the article data was conducted using the Biblioshiny package in R Studio.
Subtopics of the Topic: Results: The general data of the bibliometric analysis indicate that 911 research
articles were published in 119 different sources, with an average of 10.96 citations per document and an
annual growth rate of 7.8%. A total of 3,923 authors are listed as contributors to the 911 published articles.
The mean number of co-authors per article is 5.4. A total of 1,237 keywords were identified in the articles.
Upon examination of the distribution of articles according to the years of publication, it was observed that
the greatest number of articles, 116, were published in 2021. A total of 67 of the analysed research articles
were published in the journal ‘Nursing in Critical Care’. The results of the analysis revealed that 18 studies
were conducted in Turkey and published in various journals between 2014 and 2023.
Conclusion: In conclusion, The management of delirium in nursing is a contemporary issue that has gained
prominence in the field of healthcare since 2016, largely due to its significance in ensuring patient safety. A
moderate number of publications on the subject were identified in Turkey. It is recommended that further
studies be conducted on this subject.
