Özet

In this research, the wind energy potential of the Bergama region is evaluated through the application of the Weibull probability distribution and corresponding capacity factor calculations. Wind speed data utilized in the analysis were sourced from the Global Wind Atlas (GWA), and the Weibull distribution parameters were derived using the Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) technique. According to the results, the mean wind speed at a height of 100 meters was found to be 9.44 m/s, with a shape factor (κ) of 1.98 and a scale factor (c) of 10.33 m/s. The capacity factor estimations, carried out using the Weibull model, indicate that the current wind energy facilities in the area operate within a capacity factor range of 28.6% to 38.7%. These outcomes highlight the promising potential of the Bergama region for future wind power projects. Nonetheless, the inclusion of long-term on-site measurements and consideration of seasonal fluctuations would enhance the reliability of such assessments. The study aims to enrich the academic discourse surrounding wind resource evaluation and turbine performance metrics while offering practical guidance for stakeholders in the energy industry.
