Abstract

32 species of ostracoda from sandstone and sandy shale of the Pontian in the İncipinari-Kurtkuyusu district, west Sinop Peninsula, Black Sea Coast of Turkey have been determined. 24 species have been known prior to this study, whereas 8 of them yet need to be identified. The lithology of the Pontian in the investigation area is typical of fresh water deposits, with lagunal and continental / transition sediments at the bottom. These Pontian deposits may have some similarities with the Pontian and Euxinian Basins of the Paratethys Province.
