Abstract

In this study, a low-cost real-time DC motor experimental setup that could be utilized for educational purposes in control systems and robotics courses in engineering departments is developed. The experimental platform utilizes an STM32-based microcontroller to generate the control signals applied to the motor and to obtain encoder measurements. Real-time communication between the hardware and MATLAB/Simulink is established for monitoring and control implementation. The DC motor is mathematically modeled, and the effectiveness of the experimental setup is evaluated using proportional integral and state feedback controllers. The performance of the proposed system is validated through both simulation and experimental studies.
