Level 2 oncoplastic surgery causes significant asymmetry of the nipple-areolar complex (NAC) and the volume between the two breasts, requiring contralateral breast symmetrization. Symmetrization can be performed immediately or in a few months after the completion of adjuvant radiotherapy applied to the breast tissue with cancer. Reduction mammaplasty is almost always performed for contralateral breast symmetrization. The main purpose is to symmetrize the volume and NAC position of the contralateral breast without interfering with the breast that underwent cancer surgery.
