Özet

Within the context of teaching French as a foreign language, teachers resort to a variety of pedagogical AIDS amongst which are found the hand gestures called emblems generally used for managing classroom activities and interactions or evaluating students' performances. In the scope of this study based on data collected through natural classroom video recordings of three teachers teaching French as a foreign language to learners of A1 language level in a secondary private school in Turkey, we aim to scrutinize the usage of the above-mentioned gestural dimension in natural classroom settings.
