20th International Mining Congress and Exhibition of Turkey (IMCET 2007), Ankara, Türkiye, 6 - 08 Haziran 2007, ss.33-38, (Tam Metin Bildiri)
Turkey has thick coal seams in many different regions. Coal production in thick coal seams is carried out by either longwall top coal caving (LTCC), multislice longwall (MSL), or hydraulic mining methods. Production organization of LTCC method is practical. However, coal loss which arises behind the face and dilution of coal with dead rock are important concepts to be considered. GLI thick coal seam mine, which belongs to Turkish Coal Administration, is an important mining region for our country since coal there lies in even deeper zones. It is desired to go on production in deeper fields when current coal reserves are mined out. For this reason, in order to make good benefit of our underground sources, coal loss occurring in LTCC method should be decreased. This study is devoted to figure out the coal loss behind the face in GLI coal mine. By this way, the efficiency of the current method can be found which would lead to better decision making for production in deeper-lying coal fields.
