Behçet's disease is a multisystem disease, common in Mediterranean countries, the Middle East and Japan. As there is no specific diagnostic test for Behçet's disease, the diagnosis is made on a clinical basis. The gynecological features are mainly genital ulcerations, observed in 80%-90% of patients. The ulcers are usually multiple, varying from 2 to 15 mm in size, which can be misdiagnosed as syphilis or herpetic lesions. Behçet's disease may present with frequency, dysuria, urgency or urge incontinence. Dressings, general hygiene and analgesics are the appropriate treatment. A full gynecological examination must be performed in all patients complaining of other system manifestations of this disease. © 1994 The International Urogynecology Journal.
