NEUROSURGERY, vol.52, no.2, pp.420-422, 2003 (SCI-Expanded)
THE PUBLICATION OF neurosurgery-related journals began in the late 1920s. Most of these journals are of Estonian, German, English, American, and French origin. The appearance of such journals is related to the development of neurosurgery and the number of neurosurgeons. This study presents a neurosurgical journal, Modem Cerrahi ve norosirurji. mecmuasi (Journal of Modem Surgery and Neurosurgery), published between 1936 and 1947 in Turkey. The contents of the journal and some selected articles are also presented. The existence of this journal, which was published before most Western neurosurgical journals, should be regarded from a historical point of view.
