Turkey electricity generation is realized from lignite coal aproxiamately 14% and one fourth of lignite coal production is realized by Afşin-Elbistan Lignite Enterprise. Expansion investment are planned to increase the capacity of coal production and excavation operations in the enterprise, and a combined system with the existing bucket wheel excavator (BWE)+belt-conveyor system and conventional excavator+truck method is operated. In high-capacity production planning, the conventional excavator+truck method is required, since target excavation capacity cannot be reached in the high-performance of BWE for capacity increases where integration is needed. Increases in the coal production target of the enterprise increase the need for new machinery-equipment and additional investment. Improvements and productivity increases to be realized during the active annual working hour of the BWE system will provide economic advantages by providing excavation volume and capacity development. Therefore, it seems possible to achieve economic gains by optimizing the loads and investmensts coming to the excavator-truck system and providing lower depreciation charges. In this study, in case of continuous improvement of the BWE system in the enterprise, new machinery-equipment investments, depreciation and cost increases are tried to minimization. Thus, it is possible to evaluated the country's reserves rationally and economically by idealizing the investments in the enterprise and realizing sustainable, effective and competitive production.
