Özet

Petroleum refinery and petrochemical wastewaters are generally treated by biological activated sludge system after pretreatment and oil separation. However, problems arise in the activated sludge system such as settling and inadequate chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal. For this reason, we isolated and acclimated some microorganisms which degrade these wastewaters efficiently. In this study, we obtained high removal efficiency in different sludge ages by using acclimated activated sludge at a laboratory scale. Biological fluidized bed reactors have high biomass concentrations and resistance to high organic load and optimal fluidization ratios increases the treatment efficiency. In either two systems, we investigated the treatment efficiencies of hydrocarbons degradation for special isolated microorganisms like Pseudomonas and Citrobacter.
