As
one of the oldest and largest industries in the world, it can be argued that
the level of digitization in the maritime industry is very limited compared to
other industries. The most important problem here is that, despite the large
amount of data produced, the connections that can provide instant and
high-speed communication between the ship and the shore are not yet at the
desired levels. However, with the increasing connection speeds and prevalence
in recent years, we see that research and investments are being made in the
field of digitalization, big data, and artificial intelligence in the maritime
industry. Especially following the ship energy efficiency, which is one of the
most important issues of recent years, it will be possible to develop
appropriate policies by analyzing the big data obtained from the ships.
Likewise, making use of artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and
autonomous technologies play an important role in increasing efficiency and
ensuring sustainability in critical areas such as safety, security, and
environmental protection at sea. In this study, popular problems in the maritime
industry were tried to be determined and a detailed literature review was
presented on which solutions could be produced by using digitalization, big
data, and artificial intelligence tools.
