This project examines how shipping companies
respond to the environmental dimension of sustainability. In particular, it
adopts a research design focusing on the impact of sustainability practices in
shipping on logistics costs. The study indicates that with the increase in
environmental awareness, maritime transport companies are moving towards
adopting ecological strategies. Maritime transport was specifically chosen
because of the critical role of its international trade and accessibility.
However, the pressure to be sustainable puts the maritime transport sector in a
dilemma between cheap or dirty fuels and sustainability regulations.
The research draws attention to the increase in
carbon dioxide emissions from ships used in maritime transport and emphasizes
the importance of maritime transport companies aligning their environmental
strategies with sustainability. The stated aim of the project is to evaluate
the impact of sustainability measures in maritime transport on logistics costs
with empirical data. This assessment includes steps such as examining the
impacts of the environmental dimension of sustainability on the maritime transport
sector, classifying current costs, identifying sustainability activities, and
measuring the impact of these activities on logistics costs.
The research aims to evaluate the true impact of
sustainability measures on maritime transport logistics costs by analyzing
studies in the sector. As a result, this project aims to offer a novel
perspective on the sector by examining the impact of sustainability practices
in maritime transport on the costs of enterprises.
