For underwater welding of final and filler passes with V-grooves weaving technology is advantageous for bridging the gap. In this way the weld volumina and energy can be controlled much more effective as compared with stringer bead technology Therefore a dropping through of the weld pool and an excessive reinforcement of the weld can be avoided. Furthermore a wetting of the weld edges and a degassing of the weld pool can be improved so that micro-porosity can be avoided. Heating up and cooling by the oscillating are contributes to refine the weld structure. In the present study the properties of weaving TIG-welded joints for Onshore and Offshore applications will be investigated. For this purpose the influencing parameters during weaving TIG-welding (width, height, frequency, speed and hold time. triangular, rectangular and trapeze shape of the weaving) will be analysed.
