Abstract

We herein report a case of cellular angiolipoma of the breast mimicking radiologically a breast carcinoma in a 52-year-old woman. Mammography revealed a speculated mass containing microcalcifications. Sonography showed a hypoechoic mass with marginal irregularity. At microscopic examination, a focal lesion within the breast stroma consisting of branching vascular network between mature adipocytes was present. Vascular channels contained red blood cells and numerous fibrin microthrombi. We conclude that the mammographic and sonographic features reflect the degree of vascular proliferation within angiolipoma. © 2003 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved.
