The relationship between fabric drape coefficients obtained from the Cusick Drapemeter and mechanical properties ascertained on the FAST (Fabric Assurance by Simple Testing) system for women's woven suiting fabrics is examined. A multiple linear regression model based on the Stepwise Method is proposed. Drapeability is defined and the theoretical prediction of drapeability is a complex operation with many factors involved. The history of studies on Fabric Drapeability is briefly sketched and Cusick's Drape Tester explained. The development work of other researchers is cited. 44 different suiting fabrics were used in these experiments and sample preparation is described. Test results are shown in tabular form. The fabric properties obtained from the FAST system in experiment are classified under bending, extension, shearing, formability and compression. It is generally agreed among researchers that bending, extension and shearing properties have effects on the prediction of drape coefficient.
