Özet

The parameters specify coal including ash, volatile matter, and calorific values have great importance in the use of coal as it is or in other forms. Coal is occluded in typical oxide and sulfide wall rocks. Various amounts of these carbonate, sulfide, oxide, and silicate minerals could result in different analyses outcomes for the coal with similar calorific value. The present study investigates the effect of mineral matter content in the coal on the proximate analysis parameters. The coal mixtures were prepared by the addition of different minerals included in the foot and hanging wall rock to the clean coal. Experimental results were compared with the results obtained from the theoretical models reported in the literature. The detailed chemical analysis and mineral compositions supported by the XRD analyses are presented. The results revealed that the carbonate component in the coal changes the ash content and volatile matter values significantly which directly influence the rank of the coal.
