Özet

Due to its structure, the gel dosimeter offers high spatial resolution, sensitivity and accuracy. Therefore, the development of a new gel dosimeter for quality control procedures and its adaptation to clinical use is of great importance. Despite the many advantages of theirs, their clinical use has only just begun. In this study, gelation properties of Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA), Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) and Poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG) gel matrices were compared with gelatin in a polymer gel dosimeter containing 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate (HEMA) monomer. Irradiation was performed 1 day after the production using a linear accelerator device with 6 MV X-rays at a dose range of 0-11 Gy. The dose responses of the produced gel dosimeters were quantified with MRI transverse relaxation rate (R2) measurements 5 days after production. The results show that the gelatin-produced polymer gel dissemeters have better gelation and nearly linear response to the absorbed dose at low doses (0-6 Gy).
