Özet

Certain vibrational waves are formed as a result of open quarry blasts. The peak particle velocity occurred by these waves provides that structures and people present around the blast point are negatively affected. The peak particle velocity values depend on the distance between blast point and the point of vibration measured, the amount of maximum explosive material blasted the unit delay and geological factors of the field. In the literature, it is emphasized that reducing of the peak particle velocity value depends on either decreasing of the distance value or the amount of explosive material. However this situation negatively affects production plan. In this study, a new blast technique that does not affect production plan has been suggested for reducing the peak particle velocity. According to this technique a blast test was carried out in a quarry. As a result of the test, it is realized that the proposed technique has considerably reduced the peak particle velocity values.
