Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the differences between children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disorders (LD) and ADHD+LD according to WISC-R profiles. Method: The sample of the study consisted of children between the ages of 6 to 16 with ADHD and LD and ADHD+LD on the basis of DSM-IV diagnostic criteria. They were admitting for the first time at the child psychiatry polyclinic of DEU Faculty of Medicine. The ADHD group included 106, LD group included 40 and ADHD+LD included 45 children adding up to a total of 191 respondents. Using WISC-R test to compare WISC-R performance of three groups (ADHD, LD and ADHD+LD). Findings: There were significantly differences between WISC-R profiles children with ADHD, LD and ADHD+LD. First of all, ADHD group had significantly higher verbal scale and all of the verbal subtests scores (information, similarities, arithmetic, vocabulary and comprehension) as compared to LD group. However, similar results were found between ADHD group and ADHD+LD group. ADHD group had significantly higher verbal scale and some other verbal subtests scores (information, arithmetic, vocabulary and comprehension) as compared to LD group. Conclusion and Discussion: According to the findings of the study, WISC-R profiles discriminate ADHD group from LD group and ADHD group from ADHD+LD group. This study demonstrated that, LD diagnoses have a negative effect on the verbal abilities.
