Widespread metagabbro stock and veins occur in the high-grade metamorphic rocks consisting of acidic metavolcanite (leptite - gneiss), schist, migmatite, augen gneiss and syn-metamorphic granites around Birgi-Kiraz region, Odemis-Kiraz Submassif. The field studies and petrographical evidence clearly reveal the polymetamorphic history of these rocks. Based on the present evidence, it can be suggested that the gabbros in the Kiraz-Birgi region which intruded into the core series of the Menderes Massif, probably during Cambrian time, suffered three distinct metamorphic events: high-temperature/granulite facies; high-pressure/eclogite facies and medium-pressure/Barrowian-type metamorphisms.
