VI. International Anatolian Agriculture, Food, Environment and Biology Congress- TARGID 2022, Kütahya, Türkiye, 7 - 09 Ekim 2022, ss.1-9, (Tam Metin Bildiri)
The study consists of the determination and evaluation of the waste
composition, leachate and biodegradable waste characterization in the dump site
in Akhisar district, Manisa. Considering the wastes to be disposed of between
2018 and 2020 on the site, biomass energy potential based on biogas content and
methane gas has been determined using the LandGEM model. It was seen that 59%
of the waste brought to the site for disposal was biodegradable and 26% were
composed of basic recyclable materials. The water content of the biodegradable
waste in the site was 73% on average and the organic content of the dry matter
was 68%. The mean of the stored waste
height was 2.5 m, and there was no methane gas detected in the profile.
However the acidic and acetogenic
bacteria were observed in the profile samples. The BOD/COD value in the
leachate was calculated as 0.37 and it is concluded that a conventional
biological treatment would not be suitable. Approximately 207000 tons of waste
will come to the landfill between 2018 and 2020. According to the LandGEM
model, the methane gas potential of the stored waste is 5,288.383 m3 in total
and the highest methane gas production is found to be 418000 m3 in 2021. These
values express the gross energy generation potential of 1.694 GWh and net 96.69
KW electrical energy.
